Shannon Dosemagen has joined the staff of LABB to work with the membership program. During the winter of 2009, Shannon accompanied students studying Anthropology to New Orleans where she helped to teach fieldwork methods. After visiting the city, she decided that New Orleans would be a great location to begin working with environmental justice organizations. Shannon received an MS in Anthropology and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from UW-Milwaukee in 2009 and also holds a BFA in Photography and Anthropology. Most recently she directed an art gallery and was a Teaching Assistant in the Anthropology Department at UW-Milwaukee. Prior to working for the University, Shannon was the membership and marketing manager at Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She has actively volunteered and interned at a number of different nonprofits from Milwaukee to as far away as Costa Rica. Shannon is excited to work with communities throughout Louisiana, helping to build networks, partnerships and create a sustainable member community for LABB. Shannon would eventually like to finish her graduate work and pursue a PhD in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnographic Filmmaking focused on the environment and human rights.
