Mariko Toyoji, Research Associate

Mariko Toyoji joins the LABB as a research associate on the Refinery Efficiency Initiative.  While volunteering in New Orleans during the spring of 2006, the Seattle native decided that she would someday return to the Cresent City.  Mariko received her Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience from Knox College in 2008 and interned at the University of Washington's School of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems assisting in Public Health research.  She also worked as an English instructor on the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) Program in beautiful Miyakonojo, Japan.  Mariko is particularly interested in how the environment, health, industry, race and class converge and is excited to conduct research as a catalyst for positive change.  In the future, she hopes to pursue a Master's degree in Public Health.
