Steelworkers Gain Support

(Norco, LA) In the last ten years the two Motiva refineries in Louisiana have had over 500 accidents, an indication that the refineries’ increasing reliance on contract workers risks the health and safety of the workers and the surrounding communities. Motiva is a joint venture of Shell and Saudi Aramco. “Shell is being short sighted in its zeal to eke out maximum quarterly and annual profits at the expense of worker salaries and benefits,” said Anne Rolfes, Founding Director of the Louisiana Bucket Brigade. “The result is more accidents, more dangerous accidents and a risk to the workers and the people who live nearby.”
